Session 104 - February 3rd, 2022 Report
General Summary
1305 - 3rd Moon of Summer (Fisal) 22nd Day
- The part sets off after breakfast, having already braved a manticore attack for one early morning.
- During the journey just before lunch two large mole/armadillo creatures erupt out of the ground, attacking Roth and 1 guard. They do some damage and knock one of the guards unconscious before Althera was able to take one out after Roth got a few stabs in. The second was hit by multiple guards and Roth stabbing it, along with magic from Ari and Merry. The unconscious guard was revived by Merry and Ari healed her. The creatures bodies were dumped back in the holes, being covered as best they could, as to not leave giant holes in the grass land.
- During lunch the group took a short rest and guards were able to roll hit dice and get back to mostly fully healed. Ari played a song of rest and the journey continued after lunch.
- Mid afternoon Roth sees a large bird start to fly in, a Roc, and the guards and party brace for a tough fight. Roth is in darkness and Ari and Alethra teleport onto its back, with the guards all taking shots at the bird with cross bows.
- The Roc is able to knock Alethra off its back, but she is a monk and takes not fall damage. Ari hangs on and continues to deal damage. Roth and Merry shoot at it while it flies in, going after some horses (which are attached to a cart).
- The Roc does get 1 cart, but a fireball startles it into dropping the cart and 2 horses. As the Roc flees it picks up another cart and 2 horses. At this point Roth is able to fly onto the Roc, landing the death blow. The Roc drops the horses and cart, with everything taking minimal damage, Ari flying off the back of the Roc with her boots and Roth going Raven in the bubble of darkness with Olly.
- The Roc is mostly left alone, and a small amount of meat is taken for dinner, which Success harvested. There were many feathers gathered while the minor damage to the cart is repaired by Sven, the cart driver and 2 unseen servants.
- Success and Ari both get a larger number of Roc feathers to form various outrageous accessories to their outfits, Ari a full peacock tail and Success a trained skirt. Merry, Joan and Alethra all take feathers for their hair. Roth sends a message to Gregory and asked him about the uses (if any) for the eyes of a Roc. Gregory asks is Roth is ok, and mentions that the brooms he and Alethra ordered are ready.
- After that, the train of traders continues on for a bit longer and makes camp. They have Roc meat for dinner, which is pretty tasty, though a dark meat and slightly fatty. They all then bed down for the night.
- During second watch, Ari seeing something on the boulder set up not far away from where they camped. She casts dancing lights and see a group of hobgoblins preparing to attack the party. Ari sets off the fight with the Horn of Blasting, which kills 5 minions and then the horn explodes, causing fire damage to Ari. Since the horn is so loud, it wakes everyone up and the fight is started. Olly gets to cast Fireball in Raven form, and Merry casts Immolation on the warlord. After that, Ari takes out her anger at the horn exploding on the two hobgoblin captains left alive.
- Ari then casts a programmed illusion of the horn which was very loud, and Success tried to get it to go away, but Ari failed her dispel magic roll, so Roth kept casting silence on the loud spell until the camp could be moved. Meanwhile, Olly and Alethra looted the bodies, finding 1 set of plate armor, 2 sets of half plate armor, 2 great swords and about 150 arrow.
- Once the party moved they then rested for the rest of the night.
- Just before dawn Merry and Olly hear the sound of wings. They see 3 griffins flying in, likely to try and get a horse or two.
- Roth shot an arrow, Merry cast Immolation and Alethra cast a fire bolt. Ari then created a large storm over the horses and then zapping on the griffins with it.
- After 1 griffin dies and falls near the camp, the other two flee. One dying from the affects of the fire bleed damage and one just running away.
- After some medicine checks, Roth and Alethra stabilize the griffin and start tying it up, with the hopes it can be trained as a mount.
