Session 102 - Jan 6th, 2022 Report
General Summary
1305 - 3rd Moon of Summer (Dular) 6th Day
- Party goes with the 6 cart to a river boat that will take the group up river towards the giant territory. The head of the adventures guild meets the party at the docks to sign the employment contract. Freya is surprised that the group will not be returning to Water Haven, and after a conversation with the head guard, Sven, and the trade leader, Success, the contract is amended to return the convoy to the riverboat dock and the pay is now 80 gold per person.
- While that conversation is happening, the party chats among themselves, with Roth noticing someone who does not quite fit the stereotype of the adventurer, a human woman, who Roth assumes is the translator.
- After the contract is signed, Alethra pulls out the big book on beginner giant, and Success the tabaxi reveals he speaks the language, as well as Milla, the human woman Roth noticed. The party is unsure how to proceed since they are unsure about how and when they will get an owlbear. They make plans on how to get an owl bear and who to talk to.
- The travel convoy then makes their way on board, with Sven speaking with each individual member of the party, checking in and asking about their talents and fighting preferences. Once Sven realizes that the party speaks dwarvish, they are paired up through the night watch with two dwarves, 1 elf and Sven himself for the 4 watches. The party is fine with this and learns about those they watch with, gaining information.
- Party takes watches during the evenings, taking time to play and train Soot the tiny kitten.
- The week passes without incident, with Alethra learning about the previous travels of Success. Ari and Roth are charming and make friends with the crew, as Merry tries to hear any drama or rumors. Olly does some fly overs and finds a small blue robin egg.
- Overall a relaxing week on the boat, though Sven does say that the first encounter the party should take the lead, and everyone else will back them up, as Sven wants to get a good idea of the capacities of the party.
- This is the last day on the riverboat before docking that night/early morning. Around 1:30 pm there is a small incursion of Giant Frogs onto the boat.
- The party is asked to take the lead and deal with the frogs. The party then manages to be very fancy and leap/teleport/drop down the two decks to take on the 6 frogs on the lowest deck.
- The skill and magic of the party is far above with Sven expected of the party, in particular the magic of Merry and massive sword skills of Roth. The fire hands of a monk and Ari's lightening blade.
- Sven is delighted with their skill level, which seems very far above his, and mentions that they will do their best to work with the party, but to keep them in mind when large area of effect magic is cast.
- Those who did not fight cleaned off the deck and had a few roasted frog legs for dinner.
- The party then rested after the battle.
