Session 100 - Dec 2, 2021 Report
General Summary
1305 - 2nd Moon of Summer (Fisal) 22nd Day
- At the bonfire, Roth glad hands all the villagers, Merry looks intimidating, Alethra observes (seeing a proposal in a quiet corner later in the evening).
- Ari performs very well, 2 rolls over 30, and has quite the number of admirers who want to buy her drinks and learn about her dance skill, as well as music and hear stories of far away places.
- Upon returning to the house, Ari as set up a programmed illusion which casts the crest of the manor in silver in the air above the staircase when someone enters the door. It is very impressive.
- Sybil arrives the next morning after breakfast to interview for the job of housekeeper. She is quizzed by Roth and Alethra, working on a monthly budget, getting the living requirements in order, looking after the goats, as well as supervising any work on the gate, druid (cellar and road) and eventually the owl bear's arrival. Ari creates chaos with a dimension door and telling Sybil tieflings lay eggs.
- Sybil is hired on at 5 gold a month, more if the party is in town for significant time to pay for food. She then gets 25 gold, 15 for 3 months and 10 for incidentals. She goes into town to stock up the kitchen. Ari runs outside and turns into an elephant, who Sybil calls Gertrude and heads into town seemingly unconcerned.
- Roth then speaks at a town hall meeting, where he is officially presented. He officiates 3 marriage ceremonies, gifting each couple a pair of baby goats. Everyone is thrilled. There is a 4th couple with some interesting conversation, but Merry with a 30 intimidation gets the young man, Douglas, to wait until he has all the parents blessings. Roth notices something may be off about that match.
- Roth is then asked to determine what to do about two men who both bought a small calf, but there now seems to be only 1. After discussion and thought, Roth realizes that the farmers were likely tricked, and the cow which is still there should be shared between the two farmers. Ari demonstrates by polymorphing Merry into a cow for a moment. Everyone is pleased with the ruling. Ari works with the two farmers to get a likeness of Erdan, and will do some investigation.
- Roth mentions getting a cleric to visit monthly, if possible, and a druid out to review and lands as well. The whole village is very surprised and pleased with the town meeting, which is likely to be a talk around town for many months to come.
- Everyone leaves and the party takes a long rest.
- Sybil and Grandma Wilson have a lesson with double entry booking with Alethra to make sure all records are kept while the party is away.
- Roth and Alethra go with Grandma Wilson to check out the roads which need repairs, making drawings and taking measurements to make sure the druids can be prepared to repair them quickly.
- In the afternoon, the fences are put up to house the rest of the goats, as well as tethers placed if the goats want to move to different parts of the pasture.
- Roth receives a visitor, a middle aged woman who wishes to speak on a delicate matter. Alethra and Ari make themselves scarce. She explains that the young man last night who was 4th to speak is too closely related by blood to young woman for marrying to be a good idea. She wanted to warn Roth in case they came alone. Roth assured her that all clerics who bless marriages would have to get approval of the match from Grandma Wilson if he is not in residence. She (the young lady's mother) mentions how much she enjoyed Merry's skill at intimidation and invited Merry to the local school house in the fall.
- Alethra and Merry rest at home, Merry playing on her pipes and Alethra learning draconic with Olly, with no great success (less than 5).
- Ari goes into town to get some drinks bought for her and tell stories.
- The party discusses what they would like the charms on the bracelet in giant to be programed to say, and they talk about what needs to be done back in town.
- Grandmother Wilson gives Roth a letter to give to the brewers he works with in Benroth, and Sybil gets some tea from Alethra until the party returns.
- The party sends a note and casts the teleport spell to the university. The party signs out and then heads out to get items ready for the next day. Roth and Alethra go the Silver Moon and get the charm bracelet and Roth gets 50g of jade dust for the spell he will be casting the next day.
- Ari goes and gets the clockwork flower from Nim the gnome, and is very pleased with how well it came out.
- Ari gives 250 go to Judith to start making arrangements for invitations, to pay the musicians and have elaborate food, drink and Roth's beer on display for her party during winter court season. As well as renting tables, linens, dishes and drinkware.
- The giant translator is paid 5 silver to speak 3 phrases which are cast into magic mouth on Alethra's bracelet. Code words are Fire charm, Earth Charm, and Water charm in primordial. Ari then get a list of curse words translated by Sig (the giant speaker) for another half an hour.
- Alethra goes to see Tristan to ask about druid services. She mentions the roads that need to be repaired, as well as carving out part of the cellar for the owl bear, and then once he is settled in, enlarging it if the owl bear would like. Tristan mentions if he knows a good tree nearby, he can quickly get to the manor house, or send the party there. He is delighted to help, quoting 200 g for travel and services. He can be there the 5th through 8th of the 3rd moon of summer to get started.
- Rother delivers the letter to Harper, one of the brewers, which has the notes on all the grains available and how much of each they are currently growing.
- Roth speaks with Judith about finding someone to add on to the manor house in the country, and that they would like her to join them for a week or so to make sure Sybil is fully trained and give her some cooking tips. She agrees and just needs a little notice to get someone to house sit for a few days.
- Ari goes to see Korfel, and arranges for him to upgrade her lightening sword to an all the time lightening sword during the winter break, as she wants to book his time now. She also inquires at the magical university about getting a magical teleportation circle inscribed. They will have to get back to her with a quote.
- Ari then heads to the Crooked Quill, paying 1 gold to put out a bulletin on the human looking person, Erdan, who sold livestock. She is not sure if or when she will hear back.
