Labor Bots

Basic Information

Anatomy

Labor Bots, or Bots, have a variety of forms depending on their profession. By default, they have only a vague humanoid form, only classified that way because of them having two arms, two legs, and a head, standing upright to do their jobs. Their shoulders are extremely wide, and each bot has an exposed exoskeleton and wires for easy access and modification. Their body weight is extremely heavy in order to withstand the different atmospheres, except in particular models that have been stripped of that extra weight.

Genetics and Reproduction

Hundreds of thousands of units were sent out to the Alpha Avior System originally, but once it was realized that more were needed, the Bots took it upon themselves to create more. More dexterous units were tasked with building new Bots for new tasks discovered. These specialized Bots continue this work today, although at much slower pace.

Additional Information

Geographic Origin and Distribution

Most Bots are found on the borders of the Alpha Avior System, in its asteroid belts, or out in the Surro Aster Cluster, out among their asteroid belts and volatile star systems.

Perception and Sensory Capabilities

Although the rest of their senses are human normal, their eyes have been heavily modified allowing for up to 100x zoom at the very least for more delicate work. They can see ultraviolet, infrared, and x-ray.

Civilization and Culture

Naming Traditions

Names are usually a series of numbers and letters, with a nickname designated by its own choice. These nicknames are highly prized and rarely relayed to anyone else.

Major Language Groups and Dialects

Most Bots can speak the languages their original creators programmed, but all Bots can speak Terran Trade Standard.

History

When the Labor Bots were first sent out into the Alpha Avior, the general consensus was that they were not sentient, had no emotions of their own, and their personalities were entirely reliant on human input. However, by the time that the Neutral Five reached the Alpha Avior System, they found that this wasn’t the case. In just 150 years, the Bots had grown on their own, modifying their chassis and individualizing themselves.   When Neo Terrans joined the Neutral Five and the Bots, they were faced with the realization that the Bots’ original programming had been much more advanced than predicted. What to do with these Bots began to be debated, until, eventually, they were questioned.   Although some wished to discontinue their original assignment, most did not, and so returned to their duties out along the borders of the Alpha Avior System and Surro Aster Cluster.
