Overview

Sarhua Marsh is a region at the southern edge of the Gendur valley, along the river Aar'ua'sara; the marsh is known for it's unique position at the heart of the continent and has been the site of many battles and has various cities such as Ornemir, Daranna, and Kaasi'mar. The region itself is known for it's gentle rivers, high karsts, and silvergrasses. Like how Ischarri plains creates master archers, it is said that the Sarhua marsh creates the best swordsmen and spellswords on the entire continent.

History

Historically, Sarhua marsh was dominated by the Soranni ethnic group as it is considered the heart of Inghara due to the fact that several capitals have been in or near to the region. The marshy area has meant that the area is still largely undeveloped despite major cities and traffic along the main river. During blights, the region would often be left alone due to the large amount of rural land and marshes that the natives used to their advantage.
In the Imperial days, the place was largely peaceful and was home to a large amount of dueling sites. Swordsmanship was highly renowned and the Kuusua clan got their beginnings in this period as a sword school in Daranna. Over time one master Kaisiin turned the Kuusua sword school into a hereditary clan, and created a city on an island by Mt. Ishkerr. This city would become Kaas'se.
From Kaas'se the Kuusua clan would befriend the Ishkerr monks and various groups, eventually becoming the source for many bodyguards in places like Ornemir and as far as Immestrai. During the Invasions of the Gentari, the people of Kaas'se fought back against the Gentari but eventually went into negotiations. It is said that the headmaster challenged the Gentari general to a duel for the right to be independent, winning the town's freedom. Although, the town still had to pay tribute and supply soldiers for the Gentari army. On the other hand, Ornemir battled the Gentari and defeated their attempts to cross onto the island of the city. Although some cities resisted, most of them soon fell to Gentari rule like Daranna. After Suigan died, they were some of the first to break away from the successor states.
During the age of Atshara and War of Dethronement, the Kuusua would side against the rebellion in Ornemir, leading to the marsh becoming one of the primary battlefields. By the end of the years of war, the marsh was largely depopulated once again. When Atshara marched his army into the city and sacked it, the Kuusua were said to have been the first to rule the city and have been influential ever since.
The place by Kaas'se is now renowned for their warrior-poets who proudly sing their ballads across the marshes, dueling each other and preaching their ideals of honor. Ornemir has recovered from the War of Dethronement and has even defeated the Ataarad navy in recent years, they have been renowned as master sailors. Daranna was hit hard by the plague and wars in the last century; however, it has somewhat recovered.

Etymology

The region for both the Sarhua plain and the Taasari plain is often Aajim'da meaning the Plain of Nostalgia.
