Iccolese

The Iccolese are nomadic people who live on the sea. For most of their history, they have been nomadic seafaring people, living off the sea by trading and fishing for what they need.   According to their stories, they originally lived in some of the coastal regions in what is now the border area between the Empire of Dercia and Principality of Clifia, then during the fall of the Ancient Empire when most of Mirateia were fighting or experiencing famines and plagues, the Iccolese in an attempt to avoid the chaos that had taken its hold on the mainland, started to move to some of the most remote islands off the coast but as these islands weren't big enough to house all of the people, the islands became a focus point, for now, nomadic people, a point were their temples were located and where they could store emergency supplies should the need arise. It was also on these islands that the nomadic fleets would return every five years to conduct weddings and make them official,   the people live in houseboats consisting of two to three families or a total of 15 people, these houseboats travel in groups of up to five and cooperate in fishing and ceremonies, couples can choose to live on the houseboat of either the husband or wife family, although its not uncommon that the couple will build their own boat.    Likewise the people have moouring points all over the coast of Mirateia, when not meeting back at their islands, these points typically act as a meeting place, these mooring points are typically looked after by and elder and are located close to sources of water and good hunting grounds.

Houseboats! I am very interested to learn more about this ethnicity. I like that they return to their temples every five years or so to make weddings official and things.
