Curse of Marble
No one is really sure how the curse of Marble came to be, some learned people suggest that it is a result of one of the evil gods playing tricks with a person that may have offended the god in some way. Among the common people there is the theory that it began when a group of humans broke into a long lost dwarven holy place and by doing so angered the dwarven god that the place was dedicated to.
What really is the case is that ages ago a group of humans made a pact with a dwarven leader about building material for a place that would have huge cultural value for the dwarfs and the humans cheated the dwarfs and the dwarven leader prayed to their gods and asked for them to give the humans a fitting punishment for their deed.
The dwarven gods ended up with putting a curse on one of the tools the humans used to cut marble so that when the human eventually cut themself on the tool instead of healing the human would instead grow bone as white as marble.
But...
Even gods make mistakes sometimes and when the gods were casting the curse they made a small mistake when doing the signs for the magic circle and instead of only being limited to those humans involved in the deal it was now possible for the curse to turn into a disease.

Causes
No one is really sure what the cause is, of the recorded cases the only thing they seem to have in common is that the victims are mainly human.
Symptoms
When the curse of marble begins to show it self the victim will whenever they get a wound or other injury instead of healing like anyone else will begin to grow bone instead and over time the bone growth will prevent the movement of the victims joints and eventually the jaw and will also begin to restrict the expansion of the rib cage and will begin to cause respiratory complications.
Anyone with the curse will likely not live more than 5 years from when the curse begins to take effect.
Treatment
There is no known treatment to it and any attempt will cause it to only get worse.
Prognosis
If one is to acquire the curse of marble it is with garantie that the person will die.
Affected Groups
It doesn't matter whether it is man, female or other that gets the curse, while it has shown up in half-elves the majority of cases are humans.
Prevention
There is no cure for the curse so the only way someone can really protect themself from it is by keeping a distance if meeting an infected.
History
No one is sure when the first case appeared but luckily since record keeping on it began there have never been more than a few hundred cases every year.
Cultural Reception
When the curse begins to show itself the victims are normally ostracized from their community since the condition can spread by touch.
