Calmont bay
Calmont bay is a bay located on the Elval island just southwest of the Dercian mainland.
The bay was named after a dwarfish explorer, captain Calmont Anvildust who was exploring new lands for his country and had been hired to survey the Elval island for possible places for expansion. The captain was caught in a storm and was forced to risk sailing into the bay and it turned out that the bay provided the perfect haven to ships thanks to the hills along the edges and the location of the entry to the bay to the normal path of the storms.
Before Danhold became a major trade port in the region, Calmont bay became known among the sailors travelling the sealines as a bay where the sailors with their ships would seek shelter if they knew a storm was coming or was caught in one. At some point in history, some sailors decided to settle in the bay and make a small settlement there where those sailors seeking shelter there could rid themself of some of their coins and spend the sails playing cards among other things while the storms were passing.
The settlement disappeared a few centuries later and the area was reclaimed by nature but to this day it's still possible to find the remains of the buildings and the remains of two ships that sank in the bay.
This day the bay is mostly forgotten safe heaven after Danhold became the major port and that the modern ships are built bigger and stronger, meant that the ships when a storm is approaching can they withstand the danger for the short amount of time it takes for them to sail the distance to Danhold.
Geography
The Calmont bay has shallow clear water, only a handful of meters deep at the deepest and with white sand beaches and along the sides of the bay forest-covered hills run directly down to the water.
Localized Phenomena
There have in the last century been reports of a giant dragon turtle taking residence near the bay
