Goblin Fire Session 28

General Summary

The atmosphere was thick with tension as the sounds of massive trolls and ogres could be heard coming toward them. Bloodbane decided to try to hack at the wooden walls in an attempt to create an opening for escape. The two rescued dwarves armed themselves with some goblin scimitars and got to work helping Bloodbane on the wall. As the Party prepared their defense, the attackers reached the walls. It didn't take much for them to do some heavy damage to wooden posts, but Typhon's fast thinking led to the creation of a wall of ice outside the barricade, killing one of the attackers outright while forcing the rest back.
Seeing their path obstructed, Ovrul Rend ordered his forces to flank around to the south and break down the walls there. The ogres, trolls, and others began heading down around the ice wall to the southern encampment wall and began smashing the wooden posts as hard as they could. The wooden walls stood little chance. Before long, the trolls began pouring in. They were met by Sir Didymus and Bloodbane, as well as a zombie bugbear that Vigwalin had raised and one of the dwarf scouts. As the others began pouring in, Typhon cast fireball, killing one of the goblins instantly. The rest were injured heavily, and the fire subdued the trolls' healing factors. This opening was enough for Sir Didymus to quickly down a bugbear and then a troll in quick succession. Bloodbane, Sir Didymus, and Vigwalin finished the remainder of the forces.
Meanwhile, Ovrul Rend took his remaining bugbear shaman and ogre and headed east.
The battle lasted for what seemed like hours, but in the end the group emerged victorious. They uncovered a letter in the encampment in their search of the area. It read:

My Lord, Our sacking of Bellhollow yielded few tangible results in the way of what you seek. Our interrogation of the miner did, however, reveal the existence of a young girl that may perhaps be the key. We will continue our search for the gem, while at the same time send out scouts for this girl.

Now, the Party must decide whether to give chase to Ovrul Rend in hopes of ending his attacks, or return to Greyhelm to lick their wounds...
