Ariland

Ariland is the largest town in the floating island Halfrbjod.

Government

Ariland is ruled with an iron fist by the cloud giant Crotag, who reigns from his castle.

Defences

The town is guarded by soldiers that live in and around Crotag's castle. They are comprised of various giants, troll mercenaries, and mages. A platoon-sized element regularly guards the castle, while the rest are usually dispersed throughout either the town or on patrol around the island.

History

This town has existed since 1187, prior to the arrival of the cloud giant Crotag.
On the evening of 1 July, 1427, the forces of the cloud giant Gorfius attacked the town. They were able to subdue most of the scattered guard force and destroyed several of the town's buildings in the process, including setting fire to the castle on the southeast part of town. In the process, Crotag, Gorfius's rival, was killed by a group of adventurers. Gorfius would later recount that it was Crotag's theft of the Sacramentum from his vault that prompted the retaliation.
