Session 6: The Hammer and the Fist
General Summary
After Sona struck out initiating the brawl with the hobgoblins, a tough and dangerous battle ensued. In the first rounds of combat, Aettnas was downed. Sona, Kirbee and Bernie frontlined striking out against the armored opponents, while Ray provided enchantment support putting the hobgoblins to sleep. The battle soon turned to the party's favor and the hobgoblins surrendered. Sona and Aettnas didn't take the surrender as an option and slaughtered the disarmed and sleeping hobgoblins.
Ray watching Aettnas slit the throats of the downed opponents put Aettnas to sleep and tied him and the last hobgoblin up. Aettnas escaped from his bonds and the party continued on the path to Silverhaven.
The next day and a half the caravan traveled without anything notable occuring. On the evening of the second day however, as the skyline of Silverhaven came into view, the caravan encountered another caravan of a halfling merchant named Cayd and a large man with a warhammer as well as fifteen other human "caravan guards". After Cayd hinted at going to his shop in town and giving the party the address, the opposing caravan took their leave supposedly heading to Plumcrest to sell their ore.
Arriving at Silverhaven, the party first said goodbye to Norric and the cabbage caravan successfully escorting it to the city. Then they set off the the address given to them by Cayd. They found a key hidden under a garden gnome outfront and discovered a dust-covered shop and seemingly abbruptly abandoned house whose inhabitants obviously have not been home in some time. Aettnas read some unopened letters that stated that Cayd has not delivered in Plumcrest in at least two weeks.
Meanwhile, Ray brought their captive to some guards whom were apathetic to the goings on outside of the city. She learned from them that they won't do much unless the crime happens on city grounds and if it does, the city uses capital punishment involving death by silver. She then released the hobgoblin who did not hold a gruge against her and stated he was headed back to The Commander.
Aettnas made an appointment with the city seneschal and learned more about The Fist, the bandit group that has been plaguing the area around Silverhaven, including a man known as the Hammer, who has a sizable bounty on his head if brought back alive and the typical procedure for the city finding a missing persons. Then through some legal manuveuring with the city hall, Aettnas secured Cayd's residence as a base of operations until he is pronounced dead, the lease runs out or he is found.
