One-Shot: The Legacy of Liaris
General Summary
In a dirty tavern gathered a troupe of veteran soldiers. Hardened from a long conquest of Merriby West, the Unicorn Company grieves the loss of their fellow soldiers in the battle of Kaningrad. Time was limited, so they set out the next day to push west. The men and women of the company followed their beloved captain towards a battlefield, where the New Dawn was in a skirmish with the Rhorellian Empire. After fighting through the crowd, they met with Lucyan Blackfyre, a diplomat for the empire. He agreed to allow them through and stop the conflict, assuming an end could be put to this war.
The Unicorn Company pushed onward, overcoming ogres in the mountains, but losing their captain on the way. Aldrick Ashbreaker sent a message to the captain and was able to confirm that he was alive.
The party pushed onward, eventually falling into an ambush by lizardfolk, the servants of their target: Varmor, Plague Bringer. During the battle, a mindflayer was sighted. The creature was quickly dispatched when the captain returned with his steed, a unicorn.
The party braced themselves for a final confrontation with Varmor. They were joined by Quinn Winsalan-Goldgrain and Cassius Goldgrain II, who were set to restore Liaris and put Cassius back on its throne. The group quickly engaged Varmor, but was overwhelmed. Varmor dispatched Stergis, the paladin of the group. The tide of battle was turning, until the captain revealed his true form. He transformed into Adroiir, The Bright Star. With the full power of the Unicorn Company, Quinn, and Adroiir, Varmor was slain.
As he died, Adroiir told him what a fool he was, and warned him of a brewing evil in the northeast...
