Vileborn
Originally called "Veel Bo'or", name adopted from Winder, meaning "Purple child". This name was quickly adopted by Air dragons and twisted into what it is today. Vileborn are offspring of Ember wielders and their most prominent characteristic are their purple eyes or red and blue markings on their body, regardless of whether such coloration is natural for their kind or not.
No-one understands them. Few envy them. Everyone fears them. And me? I do my best to protect them. From their very first arrival to this world within gryphonkind, to the eventual spread amongst all known races, Vileborn have a few things in common. Not every Vileborn looks the same - unless they are hatched from the same clutch, then all the offspring have the same markings. While their extraordinary appearance already makes them stand out, it is not the only distinguishing factor.
Starry gaze
Vileborn are the only creatures who can Dream while they are awake. Akin to sleeping, these individuals can experience Dreamscape vividly even as they perform their every day lives. This usually happens in a split second, during which they experience a shadow of emotions or spark of thoughts from others around them. This can be a blessing and a curse, as it allows them greater insight about those they wish to influence, but can also be disruptive if they are forced to experience the pain or fear of their enemies.Moo'n Anthem (Blue dreaming)
Possibly their greatest weakness. Those bearing the blood of Ember Wielders can't sleep alone. This sleeplessness has been dubbed Blue dreaming (Moo'n Anthem in Winder), and the only way Vileborn can rest and fall asleep is if they are in proximity to a sleeping non-Vileborn.Yes. I would love to have some peace but... Its complicated.Vileborn that fall asleep next to the non-Vileborn will not Dream their own Dreams, instead they will experience the same Dream as whoever they are with. This complicates the lives of Vileborn the most, as sharing experiences within the Dreamscape can be for some a very intimate matter.
Minor Ember Wielding
Some Vileborn can even inherit some of the abilities from either of their empowered parents. While the previous mentions are present within Vileborn since hatching, Ember Wielding powers will only start to develop during adulthood and requires a strong catalyst to reawaken within the individual - a powerful emotion of joy, distress, pain or fear being the most common catalysts. Vast majority of Vileborn are only ever capable of utilizing a single Ember Arcana. Similar to their parents, tapping into this power causes the user's eyes to light up and smoke during casting, however, in rare circumstances - the afflicting loss of strength can instead of the casting Vileborn instead affect the siring parent or even sibling. It is not known what causes this odd redirection and is wholly uncontrollable.Remove these ads. Join the Worldbuilders Guild
