Rakken Oxtoby

Rakken Oxtoby is a mage. He's precise, and ostentatious in his precision. He keeps his desk in order, and is the only one fo the students to provide any kind of permission slips for his absences, which are regularly spaced. Unless you count the time at the end of last year where he vanished for an entire month. Apparently he was kidnapped.
His behavior borders on obnoxious, but he is genuinely excited to be learning and is happy to do homework. Calling him a nerd doesn't quite do justice to his obsession with learning. He could have gone to Blayney-Merritt Academy , due to both his address and his aptitudes, but chose Midnight High on purpose.
