Days 2-5
Session 2
Over the next few days of their voyage towards the island of Chult, the ship picks up a new crewmember, Baelin picks up a reading hobby, the party slay their first dragon and delve into a runic dungeon where a malicious spirit, and a fearsome beast, test their mettle.
Day 2
- Percy goes to meet the ships chef clarisse. He grabs a quick breakfast and heads back up on deck
- A ship is spotted nearby, steamer – ship driven by a steam engine, deck is a mix of wood and another material, black markings, red markings, rest of ship looks in good condition, hunched figure on the deck of the ship is scrawling something on the deck, symbols are primordial, 'lonely servant' 'light wash me' 'the way is shut', members of the crew board the ship, they find a corpse chest flayed open symbols scrawled in blood, hunched figure is gaunt and covered in dry blood, figure is hunched over a book that he is constantly shunting along as he scrawls, the book he is reading from has magical properties and a faintly evil aura,
- Below deck there is more than two beds that look slept in but no evidence of any more bodies aboard,
- They bring them man aboard their ship and take the knife from him, captain baldrige has two of his crew take the ship back to Baldurs Gate to sell it,
- Solana and skull try to get percy to read the evil book but he resists
- Balen casts a spell that allows him to read the book, he becomes more infatuated with the book, very possesive, solana snatches the book off balen and tries to throw it overboard but balen attempts to jump after it, they recover the book – it attunes to balen and gives balen +2 con and makes him blind, the day ends
- During the evening, Percival is up on deck when a small green dragon climbs up on deck, wants to speak to the captain, percy gets him, dragon asks for loot, captain doesn’t want to pay and has percy fetch the party to face down against the dragon and the two aarakocra friends it has, they fight against the dragon and it puts up quite a fight before it is finally brought down by Solana as it tries to escape, the aarakocra flee once the dragon is killed
- Percy now has vertigo – dis on dex checks and saves,
- Balen begins to hears whispers from the book 'the way is shut' 'the island is waiting' 'light wash me' ' lonely servant'
The next three days pass with a storm
Day 5
- On the fifth day, the storm ends abruptly, there is no wind or waves etc, in the evening the party see a purple glow, sun has stopped high in the sky but the purple glow is rising, almost an entire day has passed in the same place, whole sky has turned purple, an island appears and seems to be moving towards the stopped ship, can see trees, palms, beach etc, the ship grounds itself on the island, the captain sends the party and volo onto the island to scout the local area for danger,
- Party walk up a rise and come to a large stone 12ft tall 3ft wide, flat on one side and round on the others, baelen hears 'bleed on the runes', percy feels compelled to cut his hand and put his blood on the rune, a stone door opens into the rock that descends into the island and percy and baelen are compelled to walk down the stairs, the rest follow
- The walls are covered in hieroglyphs of horrific monsters, humans chained to alters with their entrails out, gruesome executions, at the end of the tunnel is a carving, 'the way is shut, resist the light, turn back now', cavern ahead pitch dark alcove at the back of the cave surrounded by glyphs 'let the light wash over you, embrace the eternal and be rewarded', a creature with hooked bony claws emerges from the other side of the cave
