Poem: Crystalline sands of time
The sands of time are crystalline
Transparent as water and sharp as the truth
Strewn across the valleys of ages past
And across the plains of ages to come
Individually, they are faint seconds
Amassed together they are millennia
Roll forth like subtle waves on an ocean
Cutting through skin and bone, stone and steel
My hands are bloodied and my cheeks are wet
As I wander across the sands of time
Towards that which has been forgotten
Fleeing that which is yet to come
Transparent as water and sharp as the truth
Strewn across the valleys of ages past
And across the plains of ages to come
Individually, they are faint seconds
Amassed together they are millennia
Roll forth like subtle waves on an ocean
Cutting through skin and bone, stone and steel
My hands are bloodied and my cheeks are wet
As I wander across the sands of time
Towards that which has been forgotten
Fleeing that which is yet to come
Not sure what I feel when reading this. It varies in rhythm in a hard-to-get way but still gives a meaning of sorrow but also curiosity/hope. "What are we to expect beyond these lines?" is what this sends out. It is simple but carries itself well I would say.
