The Trittle

An unusual breed of large cattle like animals, of similar proportions to an ox, standing 6 foot tall, so called for their unusual physiology. Upon their heads, they have three long horns, one either side, and a third extending straight out, above their three eyes in a triangle shape. They also have three tails, and three stomachs, and are always born in threes. Even in their daily habits, they tend to do things in groups of three, taking three bites of their food, taking three steps before pausing, etc. The animals aren't capable of counting according to study, and thus it can only be put down to some strange instinct.   A very passive, docile animal, strong and well suited to farm work, there animals are native to the Island Nations. While most are tamed and bred on farms, some herds of wild trittle exist, roaming the land. Being herbivores, they tend to avoid areas such as the blood plains and favour areas rich in grass. Their meat is quite rich, akin to beef but stronger flavoured, while their horn and hide makes for good tools and leather. It is considered bad luck to kill a Trittle and not use everything it provides, and some farmers will even hire bounty hunters to track down and drag any offenders back to face the communities justice. Even the Elves are protective of the trittle, hunting down any who kill the wild ones without respect and ensuring they will never perform such an act again.   They never stop digesting food. Everything they eat goes through each of its three stomachs over the course of 24 hours, thus unless the animal somehow gets no access to something to eat for over a day, its stomachs never stop. Its horns can be useful for defending itself from predators, and when startled, has a means of ejecting the contents of its first stomach in a highly acidic spray that can severely burn or even melt whatever is before it.   If a trittle becomes aggressive, attacking its kin or humanoids, it can be extremely dangerous with its long horns and acidic spray, it can easily kill many a creature. Given the docile nature of the creatures usually, such aggressiveness nearly always has a cause, be it terror, abuse or disease.
