Few have seen the king in many years but it is commonly believed that he must be frail and sickly in his old age and surely his days must be numbered. Some even believe he has already died and due to their being no known heir it has been kept a secret to avoid the turmoil his death will surely cause.

Personal history

Starrik III was born on Saintsday the 12th of Longrain 1339. He awarded an honorary degree from the Royal Cardian University on Starday 1st of Highsun 1362 and on Freeday the 21st of Deepwinter 1372 he ascended to the throne of Cardia at the age of 33 after the death of his father, King Kastor II. Since then he has led a reclusive life gradually attending fewer royal functions over the years. Being an only child and having never married, he has no living heir.

Education

Starrik III was privately educated in his youth by numerous scholars in the subjects of diplomacy, morality, history, and philosophy. While he did not show any gifts or talents regarding the arcane he also attained a rudimentary understanding of the theory behind such phenomena.

Accomplishments & Achievements

Over his long reign, Starrik III has done little to shape Cardia choosing to instead remain isolated in his palace. However, soon after taking the throne he withdrew his support in the wars against The Mythic Empire and pursued peace, guaranteeing Cardia's independence as a tributary state of the Empire. While this was a controversial decision it has resulted in the continued prosperity of the region.

Failures & Embarrassments

Many view Starrik III as a weak king. This is mostly due to his absence over the years and leaving decisions regarding the city to his dukes. Due to this neglect, the guilds have united together to form a powerful organization that now oversees much of the city and may even be able to rival the authority of the nobility themselves one day.
