Humans

"Despite all their fragility and the constant hardships their people have faced their spirit remains tenacious. Ever striding forwards to achieve the greatness of their ancestors. One would almost find it admirable if they weren't such loathsome and arrogant creatures"
— Suiaien Celealthor, Elven Sage
After the Great Incursions and destruction of the The Mythic Empire those Aasimar that were not killed in the conflicts found themselves stripped of their celestial connection to their gods. These Aasimar called themselves 'The Forsaken', or Human. While they are still one of the most numerous races in Merkia they are a greatly divided people. Numerous small nations and kingdoms rose up from the ashes of the former Empire that now compete for dominance.

History

After the Fall of the Aasimar, those that were left alive were left in small isolated groups. Finding themselves in a strange and dangerous new world with the loss of their divine connection many turned to brutal tribalism to survive. Over time these tribes that survived the Age of Turmoil grew to form numerous small kingdoms and city-states, and in time their Aasimar heritage was lost to them, and the humans formed their own unique cultures. Now many of these kingdoms have banded together or been conquered to form great alliances or empires, each striving to achieve the greatness of The Mythic Empire
