The Order of Balance
The Order of Balance, or more commonly referred to as simply The Order, was a religious order served Reus, the god of Balance.
Structure
Within the order of Balance there are three subsection orders.
The Order of Shield:
The main military might of the Order. Knights, soldiers, crusaders, paladins who all served Reus' will and fought and killed for his name. They upheld the law not only for the common man, but for nobles houses, royal blood, and even members of the Order of Balance.
The Order of Mind:
The main scholarly might of the Order. Scholars, engineers, architects, judges, historians, authors, librarians who all served Reus' will and kept his word alive and strong though scripture and design. They upheld history and kept blasphemous objects and texts away from the people to protect them from the words of the twisted minds.
The Order of Voice:
The main relation might of the Order. Priests, preachers, poets, monks, storytellers, public speakers who all served Reus' will and kept his voice heard by the people. They preached to the masses converting those who had not heard of Reus, as well as giving aid to those who had doubts.
Assets
The Order had at least one temple in every city in Rodina, and a church in nearly every town. They had their own property not owned by the kingdoms they resided in, and had their own military to defend their property and contest against the ruling families if need be.
They had a vast collection of ships and off shore fortresses such as Carandor Abbey and Redemption Cove.
History
The Order of Balance was one of many religious organizations that worshiped Reus. As time passed the Order grew and started to absorb other religious factions either through military might, intrigue, or diplomacy.
Towards the end of the third era the Order was big enough to be considered it's own nation, but had a military presence in The Kingdom of Acaron,The Kingdom of Kyros, and The Union of Berava as well as locations within the Wildlands. It's believed that at it's peak right before the Earth Shatter War that the Order had nearly 5,000 members in the Order of Shield alone.
Those who were still alive during the rise of the Colossus took to arms to fight against the hordes while others escaped. A few boats with artifacts and books did leave Rodina shortly before the final migration boats left. It's unknown how many survived or where the boats ended up going.
On Orisia Baron Donovin Vostwik who was a firm worshiper of Reus and a strong supporter of the Order attempted to rebuild the order in his territory of the The Kingdom of Brennis but died before any progress could be made.
To the people of Orisia the Order hasn't been seen or heard from in over 50 years, they are assumed dead.
"To keep Reus' Balance, and to stop the shifting of the scales."
