Carandor Abbey

Carandor Abbey was a fortress and temple of Reus off the coast of Acaron and served as the capital for the Order of Balance . Carandor island consisted of five major locations, all within the fortress walls.   The first was the training monastery. Most who joined the Order willingly were schooled and trained in local monasteries across Rodina, however, those who were forced to join due to crimes or criminal behavior were sent to Carandor. Troubled youth, repeat criminals, and hardened killers alike were sent to Carandor for rehabilitation and eventual indoctrination. They were given accommodation barracks to live in, and given time off to pursue hobbies of their own during their training as scholars or soldiers. Training yards, workshops, gardens, and even a library to aid in their recovery.   The Second was the prison. Those who had been selected by the Order for rehabilitation needed a place to reside before training and schooling could take place. The Prison had forty cells to house each prisoner individually. Prisoners were well guarded and treated rather well in compare to most other dungeons around Rodina. The distance from Carandor Island to mainland Rodina ensured that if anyone had escaped from prison, they wouldn't be able to leave the island alive. Worship sessions for Reus were held weekly among the prisoners and attendance was not optional.   The Third was the living quarters. Stone halls provided basic accommodations for residents of the island who worked in the general staff. Cooks, cleaners, gardeners, laborers. A floor above them was the barracks for the Order soldiers stationed there, and finally the high guest quarters to provide a home away from home for those who were guests on the island. Usually high priests or scholars of the order.   The Forth was the naval yard. These docks were in a gated zone that could be closed off to prevent a sea invasion. Ships arrived and left Carandor from this port bringing in prisoners and guests as well as supplies and other goods.   Finally was the High Cathedral. Religious artifacts, tomes, scripture, and other items of importance to Reus and the Order were kept safe within these halls. Those who visited it claimed that Carandor Cathedral was a marvel of engineering and craftsmanship while also giving off the impression of being a fortress within itself. A holy place to worship and speak to Reus that could defend itself from thieves.   It's not known if the Colossus ever reached Carandor Abbey or not during their raids, but the island fortress is assumed abandoned.
"Those who leave for Carandor Island never return the same... Or they never return at all." - Overheard in a bar in Kyros.
