Clearmoor was not prepared for the onslaught of Cactsian troops, and was quickly overtaken in a (largely deathless) two-day battle.

The farmers-turned-soldiers who survived were tended to by Cactsian healers and sent back to their homes, to continue providing food for their new rulers (an insult to those injuries).
