Zelentium

God of death

As the guardian of death and the afterlife, Zelentium is not so much worshipped as he is acknowledged. Those who are looking to honor and devote themselves to the passage from one life to the next are more often going to devote themselves to Laravelle or Syria.

Still, his presence is much more acutely felt than the other gods of death, with a common expression for goose bumps being "feeling Zelentium's breath."

Physical Description

Body Features

Zelentium is normally depicted as the tallest of the gods (with Kona-Karr coming in second), and in renditions of the pantheon is usually placed dead center. Whether this is because he is seen as the most important god in the pantheon or if the artist was simply looking for symmetry is up to interpretation.

He's generally depicted with elven features: fine, dainty, and angular, with pointed ears and no beard. His brown hair is loose and wavy, stopping just above his shoulders, with a singular braid decorated with beads and a hawk feather on the left side of his head (devotees will oftentimes adopt this braid as well).

Apparel & Accessories

Zelentium wears no black, hooded cloak, but instead is depicted in fine leather armor that is sometimes decorated with drawings of poisonous plants like hemlock.

Unlike most other interpretations of death, Zelentium does not use a shepherd's crook, nor does he wield a scythe. Instead, Zelentium is depicted as a hunter, with a black bow and arrows tipped with obsidian. In this way, he is also seen as lying in wait for any unsuspecting enough to wander into his path.

This is why obvious death traps or idiotic ways to die are sometimes called "salt licks," as those are often used to lure in deer for hunters in the wild.

Commonalities & Shared Interests

Zelentium is like a much older brother to Laravelle - his realm is to take from the living, and she is there to soothe the passage for those left behind. They are quite fond of one another, and their places of devotion often have small shrines to the other.
