Reka

God of deceit, sickness, and needless bloodshed

Not all gods are worshipped, that is true. But that does not mean that their realm does not exist - nor does it mean that their presence is unfelt.

Not every child taken in infancy from fever, or a feud between two men that ends with their lover bleeding on the ground from an errant blow is Reka's doing. But still, his hand caresses an infant's face or fans the flames of jealousy often enough for his name to be on mortals' lips when they pray. Not for his presence, of course - but for him to spare them from his gaze.

He delights in his work - and every once and a while, there is a mortal who has been befouled in their own soul enough to follow him. They too spread disease and sickness wherever they go, often infecting themselves with the disease, trusting that their god will spare them the worst of the symptoms (up to and including death), so that they may spread his influence as far afield as they can travel.

Physical Description

Body Features

Tall and emaciated, Reka is usually depicted as so bowed and bent over a walking staff, his body wracked with illness, that he is only as tall as an elf. His skin is mottled with sores that leak pus and blood upon the ground, and his bare feet leave a trail of rotted and diseased flora and fauna behind them - even the ground is not safe from him, with floorboards turning white with rot wherever he steps.

Apparel & Accessories

Reka usually wears a pale blue robe in depictions that barely covers his form, draped as loosely as it is. It's tied with a rope at his waist, and he leans upon a crooked, dark wood cane.

Pale blue is so associated with him that doctors working in plague ridden towns will ask those who live in households stricken with the plague to wear wooden circles on a cord around their neck, painted blue, when they go out in public, so as to encourage healthy townsfolk to keep their distance.

Commonalities & Shared Interests

How terrible it is to take someone before their time. Laravelle is sick to her stomach whenever Reka begins his unsavory routine again. She knows that he is gruesome and crude because it gets a reaction out of her, but it does not mean she appreciates his company.
