Prince-Mayor
Prince-Mayor is the title given to the ruler of the City of Elricia. They have a joint role as both Head of State and Head of Government. The Prince-Mayor resides in Prince Manse, a grand manor in the central district of the city which was built originally for a Prince of Chalois.
Qualifications
To run for the office of Prince-Mayor, a person must be an official citizen of Elricia.
Requirements
There are no formal requirements other than citizenship, however due to the nature of the election process, candidates need access to substantial amounts of funding to persuade members of the Senate to vote in their favour.
Appointment
The Prince-Mayor is elected by the Senate, though the candidate does not need to be a member of the Senate.
The Senate must vote two-thirds in favour of a candidate.
Duties
The Prince-Mayor serves as both the Head of State and the Head of Government. As such, they serve a dual role much like a monarch or lord.
As head of state, the Prince-Mayor is responsible for negotiating treaties with foreign rulers and ensuring the safety of the city. In this regard they meet with dignitaries and ambassadors and often hold grand parties to discuss business.
As head of government, the Prince-Mayor presides over the Senate and proposes policy.
Grounds for Removal/Dismissal
There is no formal process of removing the Prince-Mayor, though the Prince-Mayor can resign.
