Gnomish nonsense

Academic term

"Gnomish nonsense" or "gnomsense" is an academic term for concept or study that seem little too wild, far fetched, overly optimistic, exaggerated, or otherwise hard to digest. These concepts are often raised by the gnome scholars, hence the term. The main difference of "Gnomish nonsense" compared to regular nonsense is that just like most "gnome stories", gnomish nonsense usually is presented with arguments and frame work that most likely has, at least one point, had a frame in reality.   While some offense is taken, most gnomish scholars see the term as more like a patch of honor than a negative point.
"It simply shows how little the bigger folk have imagination."
— Hisji Warston Nicklepickle, gnomish scholar
It is questionable, though, has this helped the reputation of gnomish scholars in any way.
