Gelen

Gelen is a medium sized village located in the Greater Eluran Plains next to the Elquothil River. It's located above a large cave system which is a site of rich material deposits, and as such has attracted a large mining and smithing population. The layout of Gelen is pretty chaotic, with houses strewn about haphazardly and mostly built from what simple materials that happened to be on hand out in the middle of the Plains. That being said, the town is by no means poor and the buildings have been reinforced over time from metal supports fashioned by the resident blacksmiths and by magic, giving the buildings in Gelen a look that one would be hard pressed to find elsewhere.

Industry & Trade

Many of the greatest smiths in Elura live in Gelen due to its easy access to a wide variety of metals. Many people come to Gelen in search of high-end weapons and armor and to chat with the locals, who are eclectic group of people comprised of many different races. Gelen is also in line with the Merchant's Span, and so it is often a first stop for many traders on their way to Elura's capital of Quilana.

Infrastructure

Due to Gelen's close proximity to the Elquothil river, the town is home to a watermill which sees heavy use from the village. There are also several blast furnaces throughout the village and many mining houses with shafts going down into the caves beneath Gelen.

Assets

Gelen has an unusually large amount of equipment and raw material shops for a village its size, mostly due to its high population of renowned blacksmiths.

Guilds and Factions

Gelen is home to the second largest branch of the Eluran Adventurers' Guild due to its central location and relative proximity to the Lesser Elquothil Forest, and also the largest smithing guild.
