Juspar Baratheon

Lord of Storm's End, Admiral Juspar Baratheon (a.k.a. Iron Breaker)

Bio

Once thought lost to the depths of the Narrow Sea, Juspar Baratheon has returned—not as the young lord of Storm’s End, but as a seasoned admiral of Volantis.   In his youth, Juspar was known for his strength, boldness, and passion for battle. A towering man of over six and a half feet, he had earned his reputation through sheer force of will, leading men in war and carving his name into the history of the Stormlands. He was not a statesman, nor did he care for the games of politics played by lords and ladies; his loyalty was to his family, to his Queen, and to the thrill of conquest. His crowning victory—breaking the Tyroshi fleet and claiming an island in his Queen’s name—should have been a legacy. Instead, it ended in betrayal.   Struck down in battle and left for dead, Juspar was lost at sea, unconscious and adrift, until fate intervened. A Volantene merchant vessel secretly aligned with House Valyr found and rescued him, taking him into their hidden world. When he awoke—months, perhaps even years later—it was not to glory, but to ruin. Rumors reached him of Storm’s End being taken from his family, passed between Brackens and Targaryens like a mere trinket. House Baratheon’s fate was uncertain, and the realm he had once fought for was now a stranger to him. Wracked with grief and resentment, he turned his eyes eastward, finding solace in the friendships he forged with his rescuers, including Belicho, whose own history mirrored his own.   Determined to reclaim his strength, Juspar spent years in rehabilitation, forging himself anew. With Belicho’s open backing and House Valyr’s quiet influence, he joined the Volantene Navy, rising to the rank of admiral through fire and ambition. Though he had once sailed under the banners of the Stormlands, he now commanded fleets under the Three Heads of Volantis, playing a pivotal role in Ashara’s grand ten-year scheme after the Doom.   Now, Juspar is a man of two worlds. He has wealth and power beyond what he once possessed as Lord of Storm’s End, and he shares his life with Maela Valyr, a wife of high standing among Volantis’ secretive nobility. Yet despite his success, the fire within him has never dimmed. The fate of his younger brother, Jacob Baratheon, haunts him, and no matter how far across the seas he sails, one truth remains—his true home will always be Storm’s End.
