Personality

Bethany Cahya has long been the “secret weapon” of the Cahya Family. Her brilliant analytical mind turned the family's business into a well oiled machine. Something Tempest Trust Bank hopes she can replicate for them. Her role as First Banker is considered quite challenging for her. Always more at home with books and ledgers than people. Bethany is quite shy and has a notable stammer when interacting with other people.

History

She and her brother were the only children born to Ando Cahya. Their parents' difficulties in conceiving resulted in the two being heavily spoiled. Bethany excelled in her education. Similar to his own upbringing, Ando began taking her to the lumber company at a young age. Training her to one day manage the family business. Bethany, unlike her brother, struggled to make friends. Being bullied for her slight stutter, she would develop social anxiety. This anxiety only worsened her stutter almost to the point where she couldn't talk to any strangers.
Once Ando Cahya began his political career he turned over the daily operations of the company to his daughter. The teenager had the ability to run the company, but obviously struggled to meet with customers and employees. Though both Bethany and the customers begged Ando to replace her he refused. Forcing her to learn to manage her condition. After hard work on her part Bethany did build her confidence.
Overcoming her affliction caused Bethany’s career to take off. Becoming a well respected business woman while filling the family's coffers. Bethany continued her comfortable position in Ando's shadow for the rest of Magister Qarlon's term.
Bethany would be thrust out of her sheltered hiding place with the death of Sallos Dynar and Qarlon Jaqen. The death of Sallos was especially Impactful as the Republic had lost its unofficial First Banker. The election of Magister Illan saw him try to restore Lorath's panicked economy. Establishing the Tempest Trust Bank as the official bank of the Republic. Illan refused to appoint anyone other than Bethany as First Banker believing in her great talent.
In what is likely Illan's best decision of his term saw the Republic rapidly grow in prosperity. Illan, Seresha, and Bethany worked together to turn the Mainland from a backwater to the thriving province it is today.
