Manticore

The manticore is a creature of nightmares, a fusion of man, lion, and scorpion. Roaming deserts and forests of the south, it preys on anything that crosses its path. It has a human face, but with a cruel and twisted expression. It has a lion’s body, but with a scaly and spiky tail, which is in fact a scorpion’s stingthat carries a deadly venom that can kill in seconds. It may sometimes have wings, although reports of the creature actually flying are rare. 
Albeit not a spellcaster, the manticore is sometimes able to produce counter-curses or straight up possessing immunity to certain spells. The monster is relentless and unforgiving, devouring its prey whole and leaving no trace behind. It is also a sadist, enjoying the pain and fear of its prey. 
Adventuring Guilds usually offer hefty rewards for those that manage to slay Manticores.
