The Toney Guard Stations

The Toney Guard have guard stations throughout the city, with between twelve and twenty guards based in each one. These are mostly the constables (typically a level 2 Fighter) with a couple of Lieutenants (typically a level 4-6 Fighter). The Lieutenants report to a Captain (a level 7-10 Fighter) who is responsible for 2-4 guard stations.
The guard stations follow a standard layout, with double doors giving entry to the reception area. Here a duty constable sits behind a desk ready to receive any visitors, possibly with one or two other constables keeping them company.
Beside the counter is a locked door leading to the various cells and question/interrogation rooms. These include some small, private, single-person cells and a couple of larger multi-person cells with bars across the front. There is also a room which can be used for questioning or interrogation (depending on whether the person being questioned is a potential suspect), and a small, more comfortable room with a fire and a couple of tables where the guards on duty over the prisoners can sit.
Behind the counter, another door leads to the common work area for the guards, with tables where they can sit at and work on their paperwork, and bookshelves holding reference books and files. Stairs at the side of the common room lead up to a balcony and the upper level, including the main admin office. This also has a more comfortable common area and a sleeping area for the lieutenant. Stairs from the cell area also lead up to this area.
Outside, a large courtyard leads to an outhouse where some horses are stabled along with a general purpose cart used for fetching and carrying. The courtyard also usually has archery targets and straw figures for practice combat practice.
On the other side of the guard house is a small chapel, where services are held on a regular basis. This is also where meetings of the whole group can be held.
Most of the people in the guard station cells are here for minor indiscretions - drunkenness, brawling, minor theft - or are being held for a short time while the guards decide whether to charge them or not. Convicted criminals are held in the central jailhouse.
