Halflings of Meara

The Halflings of Meara, who refer to themselves as Hin, are widely known as the best farmers in the world. Their affable personalities and closeness to the land are admired by many, but their friendly aspect conceals sterner stuff than most realize.
The largest concentration of Halfling settlements sprawl across the plains of the continent of Vuorikhot. They trade with the Dwarves on their mountain borders, and alternate between trade and conflict with Orc clans and Elven enclaves as farmlands slowly encroach their riding ranges and forests.

The majority of Halflings within their own homelands fall into the Small Farming Settlements culture, with a smaller proportion being Walled Townsfolk or City Dwellers, but families of Halflings have spread across the world and planted roots wherever they are not actively prevented.   Halfling Languages   As the Hin, so their language tends to adapt very well to the peoples around them, taking in vocabulary from surrounding tongues and developing variations with their own grammar and style. There are lots of varieties of the halfling tongue, which tend to be surprisingly comprehensible amongst each other, as well as by those whose languages have been adapted. So there's an Orc-halfling lingo, a Dwarf-halfling lingo, an Elf-halfling lingo, an Avarian-halfling lingo, etc. Anyone whose native tongue is Halfling should choose which of these variations they grew up speaking.
