Death of Sovereign Devia

Life, Death

1344(AC)

The Sovereign was slain by a Dragon.

In Jhonust of 144, the Sovereign’s ship went down in a storm while inspecting Arakeenian island holdings in the Sea of Shards. Devia survived the sinking of the ship and managed to reach an unclaimed volcanic island. Unbeknownst to Sovereign Devia, this island was the lair of the red dragon Kelvrebrik called Death’s Torch by men.
When news of the Sovereign’s disappearance reached Draknos, Velrick Fareye, a diviner and member of a Vassal order calling themselves the Wavecrasher Champions, turned his magic to discovering the location of the Sovereign. His spells revealed the island to him, and the Wavecrasher Champions immediate set out in their ship to rescue their liege.
Upon reaching the island, the Champions found the ruins of Devia’s camp and the clues to reveal the dragon’s involvement. So they attacked the lair of Death’s Torch, and after a mighty battle managed to slay the beast. Within the lair, the remains of the Sovereign were discovered. The Wavecrasher Champions returned Devia’s remains and the sword of the Sovereign to Draknos where they were honored as heroes by Corien, Devia’s eldest son who became Sovereign after her.
