Arakeen uses its forces to hunt dragons in the Sea of Shards

With the death of his mother, Sovereign Corien recognized the danger of Draconic influence in the Sea of Shards. To that end he put much of the focus of the wealth and power of Arakeen to influence the Vassal Orders to seek out and hunt dragons within the Sea of Shards.
  While the hunts brought down a large number of dragons of nearly all types, it also inflicted heavy damage on an entire generation of Vassal Orders.
