Elf Species in Masters of Illuria | World Anvil

Elf

Records concerning elves stretch back as far, if not farther than humans. Like humans, elves are not a native species to Illuria but one of the many immigrants. Their original homeworld has been lost to the ages, though it is presumed to be somewhere within the known Worldspace.

The elven species has had a complicated history. In the distant past, several predominantly elven cultures suffered a severe philosophical schism that resulted in generations of bloodshed. It took the passage of time, and then the Final War, to soothe those bitter wounds.

During the Final War, the elven species was hard hit. The initial invasion and corruption by the Dark Horde ravaged the Whitestone Dale area and submerged much of the Highlands.

In the five hundred years since, the elven species has recovered. While they are not as common a sight as arkanae or humans, they are common enough in valley lands such as Marikovia, the surviving valleys of the Highlands, Durkan Forest on worlds such as Illuria, Evermist, or Mandrake.

Traits of the Bloodline

Elves bear a strong resemblance to humans in their basic physical shape. However, the differences are in the details.

Physically, elves are generally slightly taller than humans with a graceful physique that is accented by their long, pointed ears. Their hair color ranges from chestnut brown, tan, sandy blond to white. Skin color varies as well, being tan, cream, brown or slate-gray. Eyes are black, violet, hazel-green, golden or a mix thereof.

The species is known for sharp senses, particularly their hearing. But their affinity to magic is what has been immortalized in myth. There is some truth in the legends, but in reality the story is that the species has a sensitivity to mana.
