First Succession Crisis

With the death of Knir Alganvi, the Empire of Zinruna was plunged into a succession crisis, ultimately ending with Valdam, one of Alganvi's young illegitimate sons being proclaimed the new Knir.

Knir Alganvi died with no legitimate children mere months into his reign as emperor, leaving no clear line of succession. Alganvi's illegitimate children, or rather their guardians, moved quickly to shore up support for their succession, plunging the empire into political chaos. Regional lords took up arms in support of their chosen successor, waging de facto war against their former comrades in arms. Eventually, Alvassi, the guardian of Valdam, was able to seize complete control of the capital and crown Valdam as the second Knir of the empire. The crisis was over, but the empire was fractured and on the brink of collapse.
