Issue 2: The Gauntlet pt 1
General Summary
The New Guardians found themselves with some downtime. Searcher spent some time in his time bubble, gaining sparse information from his parents before being sent back into the past. Kawaru had a sit down with his therapist Tai Fung to discuss his friends and family. Valor found his leisurely reading interrupted to be put in contact with the Knights Templar of Aetheria. The other missions to find support against the Vanguard were not faring well. Typhon had a confusing chat with Hierophant which ended in a nice (albeit one sided) hug.
The Guardians were then called to train with the Junior Union of Heroes in the Chariot. Introducing the new Tower Room, powered by the Crystal Conjuress's magic and Hierophants technology, the team was pitting against a massive HIVE Kaiju bent on wrecking a virtual Gateway Bridge. The team fared well against the creature: saving virtual citizens on land and water which waging war against the creature in the air.
The training exercise was then interrupted by an alarm! Villians were pouring out of the hidden underground prision The Well in a massive escape! Hierophant and the Crystal Conjuress sallied forth to deal with the disaster, ordering the Junior League and the Guardians to stay behind.
Unsurprising to anyone, the teams both decided to assist in the situation. Teleportaling down the city the superheroes split into two teams: The Junior League headed Downtown while the Guardians defended Bohemia.
They quick found themselves confronting Razorburn, a burning blade weilding mob enforcer. The superheated supervillian managed to hold the heroes off for a while, but they eventually took him down. Their victory was short lived as the Junior League signalled a greater threat: Mechaton 2020 was rampaging Downtown.
Kawaru realized his family was in danger, and split off from the group to assure they were safe. Typhon took exception to this, shaming Kawaru into returning to the fray.
They team reunited to battle the superintelligent tank. Searcher and Kawaru pinned the legs of the robot while Typhon and Valor disabled its sensors. Crossbow and Danger X pelted its shell with explosions while Misty Moon and the Crystal Conjuress prepared big magic to secure the dangerous foe.
The battle raged in the city around them, continued into next issue!
