Twin-Soul Ritual

To call the Twin-Soul Pact ritual, or Joining of the Souls, a form of Marriage is to do marriage a great disservice. One day, everyone shall see the truth of it. That were man and demon truly meant to be one, they would not be diseparate begins to begin with. To join with a demon in such and irreversible and inserverable bond that you cannot kill one being truly, lest it simply be reborn, you must kill the set—simultaneously. A feat often impossible to accomplish, as the being and the man are highly unlikely to be near enough to each other to allow for a precise simultaneous death blow to each. In such way, it is a disservice to call this accursed ritual a marriage ceremony for what husband would dare part from his loving wife, even if to save her life?

History

The Twin-Souls Ritual began, according to myth, hundreds or possibly thousands of years ago, when the Demon King Ithysmael and Morrigan enacted a pact joining their souls as one being then splitting that soul evenly between themselves, leaving it impossible to truly kill one while the other yet lives.

Execution

The Twin-Soul Myth outlines how the ritual is performed. It requires multiple steps.
  1. One must draw upon the ground, a circle of mana infusion lined with runes spelling out the true name of the being from which the power shall be drawn.
  2. One must place into the center of the circle two chalices, each filled half way—no more, no less—with the blood of each party for whom the pact shall be enacted.
  3. At the same time each party shall speak the sacred oath “Joined In Blood, Forever Never Undone” [
  4. The two parties must now each take the chalice of the others blood, and drink from it. For a full transfer of power, ie power over an entire domain of magic instead of just a single branch (ex: power over all illusion magic not just Charms or barriers) both parties must partake the entire amount in the chalice, for all others a single sip or gulp is enough.
  5. The center of the circle will glow, as will the center of being of both parties, then—should the ritual be successful, the souls of the two parties will depart each other, combine in the glowing center of the circle, then the new soul, manifested as a glowing ball of light in the combined colors of the two original souls, shall spilt evenly and divide itself among the participants.
  6. Thusly the ritual is complete.

Components and tools

The ritual requires first and foremost an item that has been Mana Infused, as this is a very rare form of enchanting that happens while an item is being crafted it is very difficult to come by a mana infused object suitable for the ritual. (It must be one that can be used to write, either physically with charcoal or ink, or magically with use of the Lines of Light.

Secondly, it requires two chalices. These must be of a certain quality and size. Should they leak, or be of unequal sizes, then ritual is guaranteed to fail.

Thirdly, it requires and area to be free of interfering beings, this can be accomplished through any number of wards or barrier spells, but the most common method is to place burning sage and salt lines at the edges of the ritual area. Of note here, burning sage doesn’t keep out all interfering beings, nor does salt. Neither can protect you from the Knights of the Realm should they come upon the ritual being performed.

Participants

The Joining of the Souls requires, at the very least two souls to perform. First is a being from any plane other than the material plane, otherwise known as any being that is not one of the so called “Sentient Races” of man and mer. A short list albeit in no way is this a list of the only acceptable beings, will follow. That is the being that will be granting their powers to the material plane being (aka the man or the mer.) A not quite exhaustive list of example races known to have Pact-Bound souls among them will also follow.
