Morrigan
"You truly are as stupid as you look. You simpleminded fool. Do you not understand? Truly? I am more than any ordinary mortal soul. You think I do not know? That being killed and reborn, time and again, would cause me to weaken or forget? No. You're ignorant in the ways of the world. I am a goddess and you will bow before me, or I shall strike you down."
Summary:
Famed for many things, Morrigan is first and foremost the Queen of all demons, being that she's the wife of Demon King Ithysmael, and second most she is the originator of the Twin-Soul Pact and Twin-Soul Ritual. At alternating times throughout history, Morrigan has been attributed as calling herself many things, chief among them being "Empress of Demons", "the Demon Goddess", and "the Goddess of Cunning and Intelligence." (Though most who accept her as a Goddess within their pantheon list her as the Goddess of Deceit, Lies, and/or Treachery.)
History and Racial Controversy
Not much is known about the life of Morrigan, nay, it is not even known how she obtained her name. If one holds to the theory that she was born an Orc, then her name would make sense as something she picked herself as "Morri" is the old Orcish word for demons and a "Gan" was the official title of the Empress of the Orcish Empire before it fell, thus Morrigan: "Empress of Demons" or "Demon Empress."
There are some arguments about the legitimacy of the "Orc Morrigan" theory, namely from Orc Leadership whom argues that claiming Morrigan as an Orc is demonizing and racist, since no race would dare willingly claim Morrigan and the Curse as their own creation, as evidenced by how willing all races are to pin her origin as anything distinctly not them.
Supporting the argument that she wasn't born an Orc is that the name Morrigan also has significance in Tabaxi folklore, where an oft forgotten myth exists of the Mōrihganne, a figure shrouded in mystery but that is hailed as being the being that gave the Tabaxi their magic. This poses an interesting subject to look at, as all other races attribute the gift of Magic to The Wellspring, either by "name" or through attributing it to Mana.
Marriage to Demon King Ithysmael
As detailed in the books "The Demon King", "Morrigan and Her Lover", and "The Origin of Twin-Souls", Morrigan met the Demon King when he was but "a child" in the eyes of his father, the then King of Demons. It is said that Morrigan herself was "a child" at the time, but the books and myths surrounding the events disagree upon what exactly defines "a child". It is said Morrigan fell in love with Ithysmael because he was not afraid of her intense spirit and "warrior"-like attitude. Ithysmael, it is said, fell in love with Morrigan because she did not flee at the sight of him, and her intensity and bravery reminded him of the demon warriors that served as his father's guards. They met because of circumstance, not fate, or so Morrigan would say. In all the writings, one thing remains constant, Morrigan lived in a secluded area in the modern day Soushard Badlands where the boundary between the mortal realm and the demonic realm is practically non-existent.
