The Second Battle of Vesta

Resulting in the destruction of Vesta

The Conflict

Prelude

The success of the Explorers rebellion prompted a swift response from the Earthlings. In a joint plan between the Eastern and Western factions the Earthlings dispatched the majority of their space-fleet to shut down the rebellion at its core, Vesta.

Historical Significance

Legacy

Without any fleet power to enact supremacy over the Asteroid Belt, the Earthlings were forced to capitulate to the demands of the Explorers. The rebels gained independence for the mining colonies, and gained access to certain advanced equipment. The Earthlings and the Explorers agreed to abstain from open conflict and called an end to their war.   This battle also marked a shift in the tactics and ideology of the Explorers. Left crippled and leaderless, Damon Pierce rose to the head of the Explorers Defense Committee and helped lead a war of infiltration, espionage, and sabotage against the Earthlings, vowing to subvert and destroy any and all systems of oppression, whether on the surface or in the void.
