Drowned Dock

Drowned Dock is a Large fishing Hamlet on the coast of Trinity lake gulf, although most of the citizens refer to it as a village because it sounds more important. Its name comes from the fact that every year during Vaarn the lower section of the dock used for larger ships is flooded until mid to late Fean. while they do bring in a fair amount of Grouper and Snapper the real profit comes from a rare species of giant eel known as the "Storming Grey Eel" that is said to be extinct everywhere but here due to overfishing by the Talami. typically there are two or three Eels caught a month and any boat crew that brings one in is given a sizable bonus of 5 GP apiece, if a Royal Thunder is caught than the entire community has a large party in celebration and the fishers who caught the eel are each given 1,000 GP to split between themselves. The total profit from the average eel is about 50-100 GP depending on the size but a Royal Thunder can bring in up to 20,000 GP. The other main business of Drowned Dock is as a shipping port acting primarily as a halfway point between the Gro-Daric Republic and the town of East Mount which is used as a more central distribution point for any imports. The community is very tight-knit with most people knowing each other and being very friendly. they are often quite competitive with each other holding weekly competitions for the most fish caught and the prize is often something like a night of free drinks at "the buck-toothed bass"   Important buildings:
  • Jail House. small two-cell building used mostly to take care of drunk idiots causing trouble and the occasional rebellious teen caught stealing a pound of fish
  • Blacksmith lot. a small straw-roofed shack surrounded by a wood fence with basic smithing supplies like a small forge an anvil and a cooling trough. it is used to make and repair fishing equipment.
  • Townhall/Trade center. a small pill-shaped building used as an office for the business aspect of the town as well as for handling general issues within town and distributing pay.
  • The Buck-Toothed Bass. local tavern/inn, primarily patronized by sailers spending the night while their ship is resupplied.
  • Wearhouse. used to prepare and store fish and other goods before they are shipped out.
