Günther the Great
An important theologian who died about 70 years ago. Called the Last Person Who Knew Everything, Günther was a polymath, and a prolific writer, and the person who trained the subsequent generation of university theologians. His output was so vast that it was said to be 'miraculous', and accounts for Günther's sainthood so soon after his death.
It is rumored that it's only Günther's final book, called the Clavis Arcana, that allows all the rest of his works to be understood. It is said that in this book, Günther comes out decisively as a Gaalite magician, and that it contains sections on all the key branches of magic. It should be said that the Church denies all such allegations. The claims either way cannot be verified because the work has not, to anyone's knowledge, ever been copied. It is reputedly kept by the von Greiswelde family, as Günther was a member of the clan, served for a time as Archbishop of Greifstadt, and died there. He is interned in the family crypt at Feeklause. His possessions were given away to charity, but no report about the book surfacing anywhere have been received, so it is assumed that the family still has it.
Günther was teacher of *teacher, who in turn was teacher of Clothar Jäger.
