Erdstall underneath the St. Beatus Sacristy

This is a series of interconnected tunnels underneath the sacristy. They are very narrow and tight, have a slanted ceiling, and are no more than five feet in height at the highest point. Individual tunnels are connected by means of very narrow slips, some as long as 10 feet. They are well built with polished stone, but their layout appears to have no specific purpose - side passages are quite random, as are various dead ends, and side-shafts. One end of the complex had a smooth, bench-like structure that had no clear purpose. There is no writing in the complex of any kind.   According to Brimir, there are numerous such 'earth stalls' in the region, that were probably built by his people around 1000 years ago. He says that he does not know their true purpose, but surmises that the reasons are religious or defensive (to hide his people from human attacks, or possibly, from earlier outbreaks of disease). The party discovered six walking skeletons in the complex and subdued them, but Brimir asked them not to share that information with the town council or anyone else. Some of those skeletons were probably seen in the Westweg neighborhood prior to their discovery in the tunnels.
