Astar Fields
"And north from Vordus is the Astar Field. A large farm that has been there since the early days of the Dawn Quarter itself. Early records indicate it even existed in the time of the First Tyrant. This has lead some to believe the entire farm and its respected Village to have been established by Terevax himself during his long reign. Suffice to say if it werent for this particular farm and its many bountiful harvests, the costs of food in Vordus would leave many of its citizens going hungry for days at a time. - The Historian's Documentary, First Generation
Geography
The largest stretch of usable farmland in the Dawn Quarter is known colloquially as the Astar Fields. Its a large space, divided in two by the Serva River. Perpendicular to its flow, is the coastline to the Orphos Sea which is the largest body of water on all of Marda. A wide network of small canals are dug and maintained throughout the cultivated farmland, ensuring that crops are kept watered with or without rain, and reducing the overall amount of hands needed to care for the crops. Several bridges cross the river, designed to endure the heavy Novak which pull tilling equipment and carry harvests through the field.
The entire field is not fully cultivated however, as towards the Greshan Plateaus the ground becomes too rocky, and towards the Naram Jungle the roots of the great trees have sucked the nutrients from the topsoil. In those places only the Grass and particularly old Thleyka Trees have taken root. Which of course are routinely harvested by the locals living in the settlement by the Sea, Fanthra Village.
Natural Resources
This land supplies food to the city of Vordus, as well as to Ventra at greater cost. The freshwater taken from the Orphos Sea and Serva River are purified by Cryomancers, and taken to cities on all faces of the planet. With the exceptions of Enla and Avaak' Tor during its short time active. The people also occasionally cut down the trees the border the Field to construct homes or tools.
