The Historians are gifted with a powerful Magic that flows from the dead historian and into the body of a perfect candidate. The spell seeks out people whom seek to serve a greater function. Those with commitment and purpose. And those whom are sure to do their job unbiased. Sometimes the magic can lay dormant for years until someone right for the task comes into being.

Other Benefits

The Historian is constantly sought after by the Tyr Collective. If they find the Historian, they dedicate a vast amount of their budget and resources to ensuring the Historian is treated properly. Food, Water, Shelter, Luxury. By no means kingly, but very well off. However, the Historian does not necessarily get paid in coin.

Perception

Purpose

The Historian Functions to maintain accuracy of the History of Marda. Checking records, and writing new ones with the knowings of major world events. Many of them never need to document large world changing events, but they still do publish documents detailing the way of life for that generation. Through special servants, the Historian is kept aware of government movements, wars, even creature populations.

Social Status

The Historian isnt necessarily viewed as a high member of society in the eyes of the common-folk. As they have no direct impact on the lives of the people. But rather, Historians of past ensure that the knowledge of the future is safe. It is respected, but they are not heralded as heroes or Prophets.

History

The Historian began after the death of Atlas when the Gods realized the temporary nature of people. They gave all of Atlas' memories to a Noctian of the next generation, and a mind perfected. They would never forget anything, they would never go mad. In many aspects, those who have this gift or curse, arent seen as the same as their race. Their minds function on a higher level than the rest of their kind. The Gods have always kept a close watch on the Historians, ensuring that the flow of knowledge is kept in safe hands. While they trust themselves, they have learned to always keep an eye on their chosen few. Due to this, the Historians have always been relatively the same.
