Argus Aminti

Argus Aminti is a bit odd. He’s a small, pale, hunched man with hair grey from age and eyes that match in a way that gives him the appearance of a ghost. When you talk to him, he doesn’t seem to be entirely in your conversation. He also, may or may not be talking to people who aren’t actually there. He’s completely absent-minded, known for losing things that are actually right in his hand. He believes in every ridiculous conspiracy theory he’s ever come across (but never the actually true one about his wife Agata being a witch).   Argus is one of the best master craftsmen in the city of Gardinya Lyra. He and his wife migrated to the city in 1800 and he opened up his own shop, The Golden Shipwright, on his wife’s urgings. His oddities might have kept him from finding work after his apprenticeship in his home town of Ver Coasta, but Ver Coasta’s lost was most certainly Gardinya Lyra’s gain. There isn’t a ship he can’t fix.   He has two apprentices currently, Beji Sixa and Kenth Caridon, although he seems to constantly be talking to a third, mysteriously called Merk. He’s a good teacher, willing to share all of his almost mystical knowledge base on ship repair, but it’s notoriously hard to get an internship with him. One man was let go during an initial interview because he would hold his hammer the wrong way (the man did not have any tools on him at the time). But if one can get past the oddness of Argus, and perhaps more worrying, the oddness of all the people who come to see his wife Agata, an internship at the Golden Shipwright will set you up for life.   Argus was essentially driven out of Ver Coasta, not that he was self-aware enough to notice. Even his family had stopped talking his visits at the time (how many plant emergencies does one family need to fake before their weird relative gets the hint and stops coming around). His last internship before coming a grand craftsman was just about ending. The only reason his current employer, Pul Ristma, kept him on as long as he did was his wife, Rohi, felt sorry for the bumbling Argus and talked her husband out of concocting a scheme to blame some of the other, less talented, apprentices’ mistakes on the ever-perfect Argus. But there was only so much of Argus’s strangeness that could be taken by the Ver Coasta shipbuilding community. Especially after Argus married Agata. Agata was very pretty, a scandalously 50-years younger than him, and rumored, quite viciously to be a witch in a time when magic was especially being persecuted. Agata insisting they move was really the right move for everyone.
