Gorge of the sleeping giants

Passing the gorge is madness. Something wicked still lurks it's mountain range.I am not losing my men travelling this god-forsaken place.

Fauna & Flora

Very few flora manage to survive the area, aside from Ashbloom and Rock Tendrilsm which are prized components for magical users. As for fauna, most are either burrowing creature like worms of various sizes or living in the underdark. Rockslider Geckos and (XXX) are also present in the gorge.

History

A natural canyon since immemorial times, the gorge nefarious reputation came more and more reknown during the (time period) when the giant regiment led by chieftain Kror'oBal planned to traverse the canyon to reach the city of Opalure before the surviving humans of the former ransacked town of (settlement), having to make a detour by the south. The gorge also offered partial cover for the armed giants' movements  to surprise the city even more.
While they traveled , they took a night to rest nearby the remains of a sunken ancient colony rumored to have been a former city of serpentfolks, where a colossal skeleton of an ancient beast was covering the forsaken settlement. Inside, they found old relics and also statues to ancient effigies of this eldritch race, which they happily ransacked in drunken pleasure of destruction. However, those destructions shaken the foundations of the city buried in the rocks, and opened fissures nearby. Those weren't enough to cause direct problems, but the danger was beneath and more nefarious, in the depths of the earth, the buried serpentfolk proceeded into a mass suicide with nefarious concoctions , and the gases that were stuck in the earth of their decaying corpses was not spreading out. Those gases were nasty, but the giants were used to nauseous gases, and left it as is. However, the gases worked it's effects when they slept, putting them in a permanent sleep. The remaining giants that were awake tried to escape the gas' influence, but fell to natural body exhaustion, joining their brethren further in a sleep that would never stop.
Because of the giant's culture, many other tried to reach the gorge to retrieve Kror'obal's crown, rumored to be able to bring the giants together under one banner. However, those also faced the same fate, unbeknowst of the danger. It was months later that the Opalura's special regimen went to discover the reason behind those ogre's impending attack that never came out, thanks to magic and supernatural reconnaissance.
Still to this day, the miasma remains in some parts of the gorge, leaving a silent doom to those that trespasses it, serving as a natural and supernatural barrier.

Tourism

The gorge is heavily avoided by most mortal men. the air condition, natural dangers, and rumors of ambiant curses amongst this giant's cemetery makes it a dangerous venue only the most prepared can hope to survive a venue there.
