Cutisine

Basic Information

Anatomy

Depending on the subrace the cutisine comes from, some will have more animalistic features depending on the animal they are attuned to. But a common element of the cutisine are the heavier and taller body structure than their cousin, the average being half a foot taller. They also are commonly bald or short-haired because of the degenerative aspect of the skin they have, which affect their scalp too. The more frequent they shapeshift, the less hair they'll manage to grow behind getting the skin ripped.

Genetics and Reproduction

The cutisine reproduction rate takes around 5 months with possibilities of having multiple children around double the humans. Their fast metabolism makes it faster to bear children.

Growth Rate & Stages

Cutisines reach physical adulthood around 11 years old due to their fast metabolism, but "mental" maturity is usually around 14-15. Muscles and bones formation is around twice fater those of humans.

Ecology and Habitats

being a race that sometimes exposes themselves to dangerous airborne conditions, most cutisines groups lives in temperate lands, favoring hot temperature to cold, and in zones where the wind is less frequent. They also avoid places reeking with toxicity such as bogs. However, a very rare breed of cutisine seems to wander around those areas, but few is known about them by the commonfolk.

Dietary Needs and Habits

Cutisine have the ability to consume raw meat because of the very high heat their mouth and biological system produces. Most raw consumed become roasted when reaching the stomach when still in cursed form. This is also a way for them to compensate quickly their need of energy after using that form which consumes a lot of it. which makes them more often leaning toward carnist choices and preference. Some also resolve into eating sentient beings if the need arise, as they care less of their ennemies's body integrity over their own survival.

Additional Information

Uses, Products & Exploitation

Th skin ripped off a cursed form Cutisine turns to food for decomposers pretty fast and is thus not of any interest for those desiring to "hunt" these dangerous sapient species. However, hemathurgist and anything blood related magic can find extremely potent source of energy on their limbs, but this is a high risk/high reward plan for most evil intended person. However, their own tribe isn't shy to offer their organs as sacrifical catalyst for their shamans, which they see as a high honor to be used this way after death.

Average Intelligence

The average Cutisine receive an education lower than most humanoids in civilised lands as their kind hardly blend in urban settings due to their dangerous temper and aftermath they can ensue. Most life by themselves , isolates, or only deal with other sapient species through trades. Those that live in cities are usually hired by crime lords as muscles to deal with bigger cases. Thus, they get a rather homeschool or get taught by wiser member of tribes. This gives them knowledge on more natural things, but most cutisine suffer from short attention span and temper to keep time studying.

Perception and Sensory Capabilities

Depending on the animal attunement, most cutisine will have extrasensorial abilities like a heightened scent sense, or low-light vision/darkvision. When shapeshifted, they become also really sensitive to air and wind current, which can help them notices movement, but can also be used against them by information overload (like using air magic).

Civilization and Culture

Average Technological Level

Low-tech/Feodal technology

Common Dress Code

When encountered in rural/non-urban areas, Cutisines don't wear tight clothing, usually, they wear cloth that is turned around their body and can be dropped when transformation ensue. Semi-loose/relaxed robes and belt are usually favored. Sometimes, some try to make it very baggy so they can keep a cloth around the skinless form, but it usually demand good tailoring skills and fitting materials. This is usually a more urban solution. It is not uncommon to see topless people wandering in their villages.

History

The origin of the cutisine comes from the ancient times of the creation of the beastfolk.   There was once a strong member of a tribe which toughts his time was coming to become the next chief, as he was promised to a great future due to his martial prowess to help his brethren but also a canny tactical sense and intelligence. However, one of his brothers was chosen as the next chief due to his more wise approach to the tribe's futures. Furious, he plotted to get his brother in a duel which he savegely murdered him, despite the tradition to let mercy if the crowd deemed so. To also hope to channel his brother's talent, and motivated by an exterior force to do so, he ripped his brother's heart and consumed it. However, his act was not seen positively by the higherups and the chief cursed him to bear the skin of those that feast, to show he was driven by hunger only. In rabid rage, the cursed one ravaged a part of the town and escape.   Over time, rumors of a skinless beast kidnapping sapient women of various races came to happen in rumors and bardic tales. Some say that was the way of the cursed one to achieve immortality by keeping his cursed bloodline.   Until then, beastfolk and cutisines are natural enemies by their nature and bloodshed past.

Interspecies Relations and Assumptions

Cutisine hold a grudge and strong antipathic behaviour towards beastfolks, as in the early times, those spread a lot of propoganda and negative light on their ancestors and condition, and thus they got put responsible of the sins of the father. This made interaction with most common sapient close to impossible and isolated even the most moderate cutisines. For this reason, they hold the beastfolk responsible of their generations of struggle.

Body Tint, Colouring and Marking
Many body tint varies depending on where the cutisine come from, but most have a rather healthy and skin that suggest most never are prone to anemia. They however are not unknown to wear body paint to compensate some clothing when they shapeshift a lot. They all avoid body ink as it is too much monetary value and time wasted when their skin rips offs. Most gather body paint from plants to color liquids.
