Blood Crystals of the Dreaming God

A crystal about 10-inch long and 6-inch wide with a vivid red color. Those in about a 5-feet reach can hear faint vibrations that seems to swirl around the crystals, and even sounds at times like cries of rage and pain.

Utility

The crystals absorbs souls in the vicinity from any sapient creature that died in the last minute for about half of a mile's length. Depending on the strength of said souls nearby and the current crystal's capacity, it is possible that weaker souls gets bounced out of the crystal by the strongest souls that interacts with the crystal.   Later on, the souls are released near a vaccum magical effect. Those are thus sent to a unique planar location in which they will be offered another chance to fight and provide nourishment to the God from their prowess in the afterlife against other souls. Those crystals are thus batteries for the god, which in turn can gift his followers with stronger boons.

Social Impact

being used in large-scale fights by serpentfolks and their armies, usually held by ecclesiarchs of the God's faith near combat groups, the other humanoid which saw those used in warfare remember that some of their deads seemed to have lost their spiritual connections. This causes enmity toward the serpentfolk even further but also a sense of fear, seeing them as profane soul eaters.
Access & Availability
Only an handful of crystals found in ruins or very small communes of still living serpentfolks which follows this god's tenets, such as in Whakangaro island
Complexity
Using the crystal is a process that became rather lost in time, as only the Serpentfolk' Mesmers which acts as clerics of the God knew the process. However, relics of the Buried Kingdom managed to help some scholars into being able to replicate the ritual. Vitalis was one of the rare non-serpentfolk to be able to open the rifts the crystals could create.
