Within the
Outer Realms of
Malyk, one of the twelve realms is known as
The Void. Although what the void is, as well as its very nature, largely remains a mystery, it is known that lost souls are trapped here, primarily those of the
Ancients. These souls can attempt to manifest themselves within the planet, but require a vessel. The overtaking of a human is difficult, causing many of the void-touched to possess beasts. These beasts become twisted versions of their predecessors. Even herbivores possessed by a void-touched can become an alpha-predator, as many of them become twisted aberrations.
Presence in Malyk
Most of the early reported cases and sightings of Void-Touched came within the continent of
Midara during the Steel Revolution Era. It was by Midaran alchemists that most of the physiology known came to be studied. As the years grew, Void-Touched came to spread to other parts of the world, and caused disasters within the
Empire of Ulstrom. Because of the fact that the Void-Touched come from any living creature, quelling the population proved difficult. It did, however, led to an influx of members to the
Midaran Hunter Association. The only location known to not host Void-Touched is
Al'Zharia, which is believed to due to the work of the god-incarnate
Setyxket.
